Medochemie goes green for International Women’s day

Over 1100 trees, which will serve as new natural sources of carbon storage, have been planted by 250 people as part of an innovative activation co-ordinated by Medochemie to celebrate Women's Day, aiming to protect and preserve the natural environment.

In cooperation with Agios Tychonas Community Council, Medochemie proceeded on Sunday, March 8, 2020, to the reforestation of on the hillside near the main road to Armenohori. This area has lived through devastating fires, that destroyed the green treasures more than 20 years ago, was organized.
Dr. Christakis Sergidis, Chairman of Medochemie’s Committee on the Environment and Energy Conservation, highlighted that according to the World Health Organization, ongoing climate change is the biggest health threat in the 21st century.
He added that if we do not put a stop on CO2 emissions, we will continue to undermine our resources for food, water and air quality, and stressed that tree planting is perhaps the most effective weapon against climate change.

Commemorating International Women's Day, Dr. Sergidis pointed out that the woman's contribution to the existence of man is the greatest, but so is the contribution of green to maintaining a healthy life. He invited mothers to plant at least one tree, for each child they have, so as to help protect their health from air pollution.
